RIDDEN PONIES
Walstead Stud first produced ridden Connemaras having Grayswood Galaxy qualify in her first year for Olympia. She was Champion many times and so more ponies followed, all doing very well, including qualifying for Olympia too. We always break our ponies ourselves, including the stallions.
2013, Walstead Mimosa, Mims, as she was known at home, sadly left us, but these few photos I hope will show what she meant to the stud and the brilliant pony she was.
Pat Taylor has ridden and broken ponies since she first worked and trained, her first love is dressage although jumping is fun! When she first worked for Mrs Burt, 33 years ago, they produced show ponies for her children so it was a great delight that Pat was given the chance to compete the Connemaras many years later and still does but not as much.
It is a credit to the breed that even at Pat’s great age she is still getting on youngsters to back them.
There is a special mention for Miss Andrea Worgan who worked for us for 10 years and was brilliant at riding, handling and turnout. Pat now has a young lady called Jennie Ross who is also a great asset and now works with us once a week. Now working full time alongside with me is a new work collegue called Hannah Weeks and doing an excellent job.
